The larger, egg-laying bee on which the colony is focussed. There can (usually) only be one Queen at a time. She lays all the eggs on her own and lasts around 3-4 years. She’ll leave and take half the colony with her (swarming) if the conditions are right. This is bad for a beekeeper!
