The miracle of life is still a miracle even if you’re surrounded by 60,000 fellow bees. After developing for 21 days within a capped brood cell something tells each bee it’s time to nibble their way out of the cap and join the throng. Their first task will be to clean out their recently emerged cell – if there were chimneys to climb that’s where they’d be sent!
