A Sustainable World

We started beekeeping to play our part in supporting colonies of pollinators. We use Queen Bees sourced from people we know locally or raised within our own hives. We don’t import Queens or bees from overseas or outside our local area. Our hives are located on a patch of otherwise unusable land within a village location. The bees have a local river as a water source within 15m of the hives. The flora within their foraging range is a combination of domestic gardens, mature trees and livestock grazing.

Along with our local Beekeeping Association we oppose the proposed derogation for the use of neonicotinoids. We are also members of our local Asian Hornet list to monitor and respond to any reports of Asian Hornet activity.

Wax comb from the hives is melted and recycled by us. The honey is packaged in recyclable glass jars sourced from a UK producer.
